Elizabeth "Libbie" Laas was born April 16, 1868 in Klaber, Meckelnburg-Schwerin, Germany. She was the second child of Johann and Dorothea (Roggelin) Laas.

Libbie was listed as a "houseworker" on the 1930 U.S. Census, for Toledo, Ohio. She was an attendee at the early Heiden Family Reunions.

In the 1920s letters from German relatives to Rika (Mrs August) Heiden, it is mentioned that Libbie was also corresponding with them.

She died on February 12, 1948 at the age of 78 in Toledo.
