Florence (Murphy) Gibson was born on September
20, 1883 in Lake Ridge, Michigan as the daughter of Jenne
(Anderson) and Thomas Murphy.
She graduated from
Tecumseh High School and from Michigan State Normal
School (now Eastern Michigan University) in
Ypsilanti, Michigan. She taught school in Elsie High
School in Clinton County, Michigan.
On November 14, 1910,
she married Alexander Gibson.
They had two children:
