Ella Agnes (Murphy) Boyd was born on September 30, 1894 in Lake Ridge, Michigan as the was the daughter of Jenne (Anderson) and Thomas Murphy.

She attended school in Tecumseh, Michigan and  married Percy Boyd on September 10, 1917.
