Mary (Anderson) Elliott was born in 1850 in Craigs, County Antrim, Northern Ireland She was the daughter and fourth child of Elizabeth (Getty) and William Anderson.

She, her parents and siblings immigrated to the U.S. in 1865 and settled in Lenawee County, Michigan.

About 1874, she married Thomas Elliott in Tecumseh, Michigan. Thomas was born on April 1, 1850 in Clogh, County Antrim, Northern Ireland and came to the U.S. in 1873. Clogh is a few miles from Craigs.

They had four sons:

1. James Elliott (1875-1938)

2. William Elliott (1877-1930)

3. Ernest Elliott (1879-1937)

4. Thomas Elliott, Jr. (1889-1937)

Mary died on June 10, 1926 at the age of 76. Thomas passed away on October 11, 1932, at the age of 82.

This is the home of Thomas Elliot as it appeared in a local newspaper article. It was (is?) located on what was then called West Chicago Street which is the same as M-50, the main east-west route through the city.

The article said, "Mr Elliott is proprietor of a general blacksmithing business, his shop is located on Pearl Street south, and is an extensive establishment of its kind. A first-class wagon and carriage repair shop is run in connection. Mr Elliott has been engaged for many years in the blacksmithing business in Tecumseh, and has built up a large patronage by giving the work his personal supervision and seeing that first-class work only is given his patrons. Mr. Elliott is now serving his second term as township supervisor."
