Lavern Curtis Weyher was born on April 23, 1934 in Petersburg, Monroe County, Michigan. He was the son of Helen (Downing) and Alfred Weyher.

He married Patricia VanVoorhies and they had four children:

1. Shelley Lee (Weyher) Hottenstein

2. Betsy Weyher

3. Lisa Weyher

4. Stacey Ellen Weyher

Lavern died on May 14, 1998 at the age of 59 in Grayling, Crawford County, Michigan. He is buried at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg.
