Nellie May Getty was born on February 7, 1900 in Wadena, Wadena County, Minnesota as the daughter of Herbert and Gina (Iverson) Getty.

She died on October 12, 1985 at the age of 85 in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington. Nellie is buried in the Old Vancouver City Cemetery.
