Selma Maude (Getty) Moore was born December 26, 1898 in Dundee, Monroe County, Michigan as the daughter of George Frances and Olive (Merryfield) Getty.

On June 12, 1917, she married Thomas C. Moore, Sr. who was from Jackson, Mississippi, and they had one child: Thomas Moore, Jr.

They lived in Ohio and Michigan before moving to Jackson, Mississippi for twenty years. In 1943, they moved back to Dundee.

Selma died on September 24, 1988 in Monroe, Michigan at the age of 89. She is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
