Roger Heiden, 85, of Monroe, MI passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in his home under the care of Heartland Hospice.

Roger was born on October 17, 1939, to Leo and Lucille (Smith) Heiden. He married Nancy Eipperle Janssen on January 10, 1970, at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church. Nancy preceded him in death on June 17, 1999.

Roger was a 1958 graduate of Dundee High School. He was a self-employed farmer for a number of years. He also worked at France Stone Company for 12 years and Dundee Castings for 22 years, retiring in 2006.

Roger enjoyed fishing, watching the old westerns, taking rides to see what Tim, Dave, and Butch were doing in the fields, and a good cigar. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ida.

He is survived by three sons, Timothy (Amy) Janssen, David (Sharon) Janssen, Butch Heiden, and one daughter, Karen (Chad) Burkett; seven grandchildren, Amber (Matt) Corbin, Corinne Keller, Jared (Kaitlin) Janssen, Jacob Janssen, Tanner (Lauren) Burkett, Sydney Janssen, and Delaney Burkett; four great-grandchildren, Fallon Corbin, Kayden, Bennett, and Estelle Keller, and one on the way; a brother, David (Bertha) Heiden, a sister MaryLou (Gene) Opfermann, a sister-in-law, Helen Eipperle, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lucille Heiden, and his wife, Nancy.

A visitation for Roger will be held at the Capaul Funeral Home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 2-8 PM. He will lie in state on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church from 10 AM until the services at 11AM. Pastor Janice Locke of St. John Lutheran Church, Dundee, MI, will officiate. The burial will be at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
