Calvin Leon Irwin, age 63 of Britton passed away on Wednesday,
May 31, 2023 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born December
17, 1959 in Tecumseh a son of the late Robert George and Madalyn
Eunice (Downing) Irwin. On March 27, 2003 at Heritage Park in
Adrian he married Therese Marie Villeneuve and they have shared
20 years together.
Calvin graduated from Britton High School
in 1978. He has worked for the Village of Britton in the
Department of Public Works for over 25 years. Calvin was a
member of the Ridgeway Twp. Fire Department and a retired member
of the Lenawee County Sheriff's Reserves. He loved working on
and restoring tractors, tinkering on everything, mowing the
grass and spending time in his garden. He and his wife loved
sitting on the porch and were affectionately known as the "Porch
Monkeys" because when you would go by the house if they were
sitting on the porch or working in the yard you were always
blessed with a wave.
Besides his wife, Therese, Calvin is survived by his
children, Leland Irwin of Britton, Dustin (Amber) Irwin of
Palmyra, Emily Shock of Inkster, Ashley Shock of Belleville and
Markie (Taylor) Shock of Manchester; a brother, Chuck (Debbra)
Irwin of Britton; two sisters, Connie Raymond of Adrian and
Cheryl (Norman) Seegert of Dundee; seven grandchildren, Cayden
Shock, Keeyara Dorsey, Elizabeth Irwin, Calvin Irwin, Max Irwin,
Bo Shock and Allison Shock. Besides his parents and his first
wife, Suzanne, Calvin was preceded in death by his daughter,
Jennifer Irwin, two sisters, Cathy Irwin and Carol Withrow and
nephew, Billy Lee Raymond.
Visitation for Calvin will be from 4pm – 8pm on Monday, June
5, 2023 with a Fireman Walkthrough at 7pm at the Tecumseh Chapel
of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be at 11am on
Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Dave McCarty officiating
with visitation from 10 am until the service. Burial will be in
Ridgeway Cemetery. Family ask that you dress comfortable and
casual for the visitation and funeral service no fuss, no bus.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Thank you all
