Gordon Toburen

C. Gordon Toburen, 86, of Manheim passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at
Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Dundee, MI, he was the son of the late
Charles and Florence Roggerman Toburen. He was the loving husband of Carol J.
Heiden Toburen and they would have observed their 66th wedding anniversary in
May.
Retired in 1999, Gordon was a maintenance supervisor for International Paper,
Lancaster. He served in the US Army Reserves and was an active and faithful
member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Penryn. Gordon was also a
member of the Manheim Sportsman’s Association, Manheim Historical Society and
Pen-Elm Lions Club.
His interests included traveling, boating, hunting and fishing, especially at
the Indian River Inlet. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren
and great grandchildren, which brought great joy to his life.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Michael Toburen of SC, Kirk
Toburen of Lebanon and Twins, Todd husband of Deanne Toburen of Manheim, and a
daughter, Kelly wife of Mike Cassel of Manheim; 14 grandchildren, 16 great
grandchildren and three siblings, Donald Toburen of MI, Carol wife of Ronald
Foreman of AL and Mary wife of Stephen Stankewich of MD.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kelly Claar and three siblings, Stanley,
Melvin and Marvin Toburen.
