The
tiny community called
Grape was a few miles from the homes of
August (right)
and Rika Heiden and his son,
William
Carl and Mary Heiden. In the early twentieth century, it was
known for the canal that ran parallel to the River Raisin for a
few miles. It was used to float logs to a saw mill and the flow
turned the grinding wheel at a grist mill. Farmers could get
their grain turned into flour or livestock feed. Looks like the
name of the place was Raisinville Mills. |
