Elsie Anna (Heiden) Klatt was born July 23, 1905 at 8420 Dixon Road, the home of her parents Heinrich and Emma (Stock) Heiden.

She attended Bridge School which was about 1/4 mile east of her house through the 8th grade as was the custom of the day.

On August 30, 1924, she married Otto Lee Klatt in Monroe, Michigan. He had been born July 20, 1900 in Adrian, Michigan. Otto passed away on January 31, 1989 in Monroe.

They had 12 children, 8 boys and 4 girls during their married life. All but one lived to adulthood.

On June 23, 1992, Elsie died at the Frenchtown Nursing Home in Monroe, Michigan. She was 86 years old. Burial took place at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Monroe.

I remember visiting Aunt Elsie at their house in Monroe. I always thought how lucky they were to have so many brothers and sisters to play with. (Note: JoAnn was an only child.)

Heinrich (44) and Emma (30) were living on what was then called River Road (now 8420 Dixon Road) with their children August John (9), William Leo (7), Elsie (5), Dorothy (3) and Esther (1). Clarence Miller was living with them as a "Servant" but more likely a farm worker.
They were listed as living at 2 River Road which is now 8420 Dixon Road. Heinrich (55) and Emma (40) were living with their children William Leo (17), Elsie (15), Dorothy (13), Esther (11), Henry Wm (9) and Libbie (5). On April 20 of 1922, Heinrich/Henry died suddenly of a heart attack.

Note: Listed living next door to the west was George Wakefield (78) whose father was from Vermont and mother from France. No children or spouse were listed at that time.

Elsie (25) and her husband, Otto Klatt (30) were living at 916 Smith Street in Monroe, Michigan. Their children included Donald (4), Ervin (3) and Harold (<1). Otto was listed as a woodworker.
 
Elsie (45) and Otto (49) were living at 1020 Harrison Street in Monroe. Also living there were there children, Ervin (23), Harold (21), Kenneth, Sr. (18), Marilyn (13), Norma Jean (12), Robert (9), Linda (5) and Richard (2). Their son, Donald (24) and his wife, Margaret (19) were also in the house.
