Melvin E. Robbins was the first child born to Ada (Heiden) and DeGarmo Robbins. He was born on February 23, 1936 in Ida, Michigan.

After serving in the U.S. Army as a SP4, he married Jean L. Wimer on September 19, 1964. They lived in Wapakoneta, Ohio and had two daughters.

He worked for R&W Dry Wall Company for 40 years.

Melvin died on April 16, 2018 in Lima, Ohio at the age of 82. He is buried at Fort Amanda National Cemetery in Auglaize County, Ohio.
