 I
don't ever recall having a discussion with Caroline at any of the
many Heiden Family Reunions that she and her husband, Bill, attended.
Bill often took films of the events. From the pictures that I have of her with her cousins in the
early days, she seemed to be a "life of the party" type of person.
She always had a smile on her face.
While compiling information for
the 1995 Heiden Family book, she sent
information and pictures to be included. We also have some of the
films that Bill took and will be converting them to
digital
form later in 2026.
Though I saw her many times at the reunions, nobody seemed
to know how she was related to us. The RootsMagic software
that I use was able to give me an answer. Turns out she is
my third cousin, once removed. My great grandmother,
Rika Heiden, and Caroline's grandmother,
Dorothea Roggelein, were
first cousins. If you have questions about how someone in
the family is related to you,
RootsMagic may be able to help you too.
