 Mae "Mamie"
(Behm) Wallen was born on Tuesday, July 7,
1914 in Philadelphia. Her parents were
Albert
Adam and Ella (King) Behm.
In 1920, Mae was
living with her parents and siblings at 289
Thirteenth Street in Hammonton, Atlantic County, New
Jersey. They were still living here in 1930 and Mae
was listed as doing finish work in a laundry.
She married Furman
Newton Wallen, who was born circa 1909, and they had
three children.

The census for 1940
shows Mae and her husband and children living at 409
East Vine Street in Millville,
Cumberland County,
NJ. Furman's mother, Clara Colwell, and Mae's
brother, Edward L. Behm, were also living at that
address. Furman was working as a gas station
attendant earning $748 per year.
Mae died on August
26, 2010 at Northern Riverview Health Care Center in
Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York. She was 96
years old and living in Haverstraw, NY. Mae was
buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Millville. New
Jersey. At the time, she had twelve grandchildren,
eighteen great grandchildren and one great, great
grandchild. |
