Julius C. Rehmann, Sr. was born on Sunday, January 24, 1875 in Hammonton, Atlantic County, New Jersey. He was the son of Christopher, Sr and Wilhelmina (Wolmelsdorf) Rehmann.

At the age of 22 on Thursday, December 2, 1897, Julius married 18 year old Rose Menger who had been born on January 13, 1879, probably in Pennsylvania. The wedding took place in Folsom, Atlantic County, New Jersey.

Together, they had seven children:

4. Julius C. Rehmann, Jr. (1911- )

5. Katherine M. (Rehmann) Hile (1912-1993)

7. Irma (Rehmann) Bertstecher or Berstecher (1929-2012)

In the 1900 census, Julius and his family were listed as living at 115 Egg Harbor Road in Hammonton. He was employed as a stock fitter at the local shoe factory. By 1910, they had moved to Twelfth Street in Hammonton. They were still living there in 1920. The 1910 report says that Rosie and Julius had six children but only three of them were living. In 1930, the family was living at 720 Twelfth Street in Hammonton.

According to a report in the South Jersey Republican newspaper of August 19, 1911 a lightning bolt struck Julius Rehmann's house, on Twelfth Street, entered every room, tore off plastering and broke dishes, but injured no one.
