Mildred (Roggerman) Heiden's brother, Bob Roggerman, his wife, Ruth and their children lived at this location in the early 1950s. The picture above shows the site as it appeared in 2023 with the house torn down long ago. The Roggerman's moved to Monroe in the 1960s.

It was about a half a mile east of Art and Mildred's home at 12444 Dixon Road. When I was five or six years old, Ma and I would sometimes walk there to have lunch with Ruth. She was a very nice lady and made the best waffles with brown sugar syrup!

I remember that they had what looked like a BB hole in one of their front windows which resulted in the plate of glass breaking into large pieces. Bob had fixed it by drilling a hole in two beer bottle caps and pulling them together on opposite sides of the window with a small bolt. This was enough to hold the pane of glass together without having to be replaced. Money was tight and you had to make do sometimes.
