Velda Louise Heiden was born on Thursday, November 26, 1931 at the home of her grandparents, William Carl and Mary (Rambow) Heiden, at 8861 Dixon Rd. She was the first child of Carl and Anita (Kroeger) Heiden.

She attended Bridge School through the eighth grade and then graduated from Dundee High School in 1949. After high school, Velda worked for a short time "slinging hamburgers" at Roe's Bar-B-Q in Ida. In 1951, she started work as a bookkeeper at the Ida Farmer's Cooperative where she worked until retiring in 1993.

Velda lived at the family farm at 600 Ida-Maybee Rd. Her interests included golfing, walking and gardening. Velda also liked to pick strawberries at Rauch Berry Farm and blueberries near Dexter when in season. Occasionally, she could be found placing a bet at the casino in Windsor, Ontario.

She passed away at the age of 90 on June 12, 2022 in Monroe, Michigan.
