Robert William Heiden, the oldest child of Lester and Lila (Viets) Heiden, was born on Monday, May 30, 1927 in Monroe, Michigan.

He attended Bridge School through the eighth grade and graduated from Dundee High School in 1945. Following graduation, he spent one year in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II.

Bob married Roberta Lucille Gall on Saturday, May 26, 1951 in Holland, Ohio. They have four children including one deceased son, Neil Leslie.

Bob worked for the U.S. Postal Service delivering mail in Rural Route 2 in Monroe County for 31 years before retiring in 1983. He was an avid golfer who had two holes-in-one. As a bowler, he scored a perfect 300 game and he and cousin, Glenn Heiden were Michigan State Doubles Champions. Bob also enjoyed gardening, especially working with his roses.

Roberta and Bob shared the same birthday, May 30th. She was born on Friday, May 30, 1930 in Toledo and graduated from high school in Holland, Ohio. She then attended the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing and in 1951, she became a Registered Nurse. Roberta worked for 24 years at the Monroe County Health Department before they moved to Palmetto, Florida in 1990. She continued part-time as a "home care" nurse for the Manatee Hospital in Bradenton, Florida for several years.

Bob passed away in Palmetto, Florida on Friday, March 4, 2005 at the age of 77. Roberta died at 87 years of age on Monday, March 12, 2018 in Blissfield, Michigan. At the time of Bob's death, they had 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
