There are two
towns named Nienhagen
in Germany. One is a good size city near the Baltic Sea coast not
far from the port city of
Rostock. The other is
a very small village about 37 miles to the east inland from the sea.
It is only 2.6 miles south of
Groß Wokern, the home of
August Heiden and
Heinrich Rambow. Use Nienhagen Lankreis
Gustrow to find it online.
This was the hometown of
Friedrich Heiden who was born in 1755 and
died here in 1811. He is the most distant ancestor of the Monroe
County Heidens which we have been able to find in the records...so
far. He was the great grandfather of
August Heiden, who was the first of the family to emigrate to America
in 1873,
one hundred and eighteen years after Friedrich's birth.
