Stowell School was one of those
one-room schools that were scattered around rural areas prior to
around 1950. This one was located about half a mile from the
intersection of Dixon Road and South Custer Road (M-50) which
was called Five Points. During the 1950s, it was the site of an
annual appearance by Santa Claus where local children were
entertained and given a small gift in the weeks before
Christmas.
Heiden Reunions were held here in 1955 and again in the years
between 1968 and 1977.

I remember our team walking to Stowell School on Dixon Road [4.5
miles] to play a softball game and then walk back to
Bridge School again. |

Heiden Reunion at Stowell School |
We don't know for certain but guess that this picture was taken
in the early 1970s. Pete Heiden died July 7, 1977.
