This house at the corner of Ida-Maybee Road and Dixon Road was the home of Art and Mildred (Roggerman) Heiden and their son Harold in the late 1930s. Their daughter, Joyce was born here in 1938. Around 1940, the family moved to the east end of Dixon Road to a house on South Custer Road where their second son, Ronald was born in 1942. According to Joyce, the family moved back to this house before again moving to the C.J. Rath farm at 9450 Dixon Road about a mile away.

When I was growing up in the 1950s, this was the home of George (right) and Lydia Rath. My dad, Art Heiden, would stop by and visit with them and I would be along sometimes. All the time I knew them, Lydia was confined to a wheel chair.

Later, their son, Ted Rath, lived here and his stepson, Ken Kehrer (left) was a close friend of mine through high school. Ken's grandfather, Norman Kehrer's second wife was my father's cousin, Esther Heiden. So Ken, who passed away in 2021 was not a relative...just a friend.
